According to the Hawaiian law, nudity is illegal at beaches in Hawaii, but the state still has some beaches that are dubbed as nude or topless. Hawaii also has some clothing-optional beaches. 1. Honokohau Harbor Beach
Located on the Kona Coast’s Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, this beach is one of the most popular nude beaches in Hawaii. This yellow sand beach does not offer privacy with Federal Park rangers visiting the area on a regular basis to enforce a ban on nude sunbathing. The north end of this beach is very popular among gays. This beach has warm climate and it offers the visitors to enjoy several adventurous games.
2. Kehena Beach
Popularly known as Dolphin Beach, this black sand beach is located in the Puna district near the 19 mile marker. This nude beach offers good privacy because it is surrounded by tall trees and cliffs. This beach is not fit for swimming because of the high waves and strong current. This beach is very popular among the local people. This beach offers stunning view of the ocean and is a perfect place for those who want to indulge in adventurous water sports.
3. Donkey Beach
Located near the mile marker 11 on Highway 56, this nude beach is not visible from the road. This beach can be accessed using a path, which is on old sugar cane field, which belongs to a private individual. Regarded by many as one of the best nude beaches in Hawaii, the access to Donkey Beach is not easy now because the new owner of the sugarcane field did not allow people to use the road easily.
4. Secret Beach
As the name suggests, this beach offers privacy, allowing the visitors to relax and enjoy without wearing anything. The other name of this beach is Kauapea Beach. It is located north of Kilauea on Rt. 56 at the end of a road off of Kalihiwai Road. Though this beach is one of the most visited nude beaches in Hawaii, local authorities are still trying hard to enforce the nudity ban in this long, yellow sand beach. Swimming here in winter is hazardous due to strong waves, but this place is perfect for snorkeling.
5. Little Beach at Makena
Located near the Makena Beach, this beach is the unofficial-clothing optional beach in Maui. Located near the Maui Prince Hotel, this beach is inaccessible by car. There is a large parking lot near the beach where the visitors need to park their vehicle and then walk to the beach. This beach is perfect for nude sunbathing. This neat and clean beach offer excellent swimming and snorkeling options. This beach offers stunning view of the ocean and is a perfect place for those who want to indulge in adventurous water sports.
