Known for its beaches and motor sports, Daytona beach in Florida is a perfect way for the young and old alike to relax their minds and spoil themselves just a teeny bit. Rightly popular as the principal city in the Fun Coast of Florida, Daytona is also the headquarters for the Grand American Road Racing Association and NASCAR.

1. A walk to rememberDaytona

Travelling can be tiresome. So on day one, if you have just got here, the perfect way to shed away all your fatigue is to go for a long walk on one of the beaches. There is 23 miles of white, sandy beaches, open 24 hours a day! Feel the cool water and take off your footwear to let your tingly toes dig into the sand as you behold the sunset or the sunrise which is nothing less than a glorious birth.

2. Aqua-sin

A trip to a beach is incomplete without water sports. There are many aquatic adventures out there for kids and adults alike – from Kayaking, surfing to para sailing or boating. So what are you waiting for? Get your swimsuit on!

3. Cultural event

An evening in Daytona beach offers a rich selection of various live performing arts and cultural programs with an impressive collection of Broadway-caliber artists and performers who may just ‘take your breath away’. You could see the ‘Friends of the Bandshell Concert followed by fireworks or catch a movie at the ‘Cinematique of Daytona’.

4. Sand and sports

Apart from the sparkling waters and the sun and sand, there’s more to do once you leave the beach. One could go for golfing or fishing or indulge in spectator sports. Daytona is also a perfect place for family fun. Take your kids out to ‘Angell and Phelps chocolate factory’ to satisfy their little sweet tooth. Known for its high quality hand made chocolates that are finger licking good, take their 30 minute guided tour to discover what in their chocolate makes you go ‘yummm!’ This factory recently made it to TripAdvisor top 10 Sweetest Attractions in the U.S.!. The timings are 10-11 a.m. 1 p.m.-2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is closed on Sunday.

7. Cycle off

Untouched beauty and roads flanked by palm trees along the Loop, a 33.98-mile scenic route is a must-see for motorcyclists, motorists and bicyclists alike. Rent a bike from the plenty rental shops to admire the wide variety of birds and animals.

8. Drive on the race track

A visit to the NASCAR capital is incomplete if you don’t drive on the Race Track. The Richard Petty Driving Experience offers you Ride-Alongs on the Race Tracks used for motor racing sports. The pit stops, smell of burning rubber and the adrenaline rush is simply awesome!

9. The bright and shiny path to help you across

At 195 feet, after climbing 202 steps of the Lighthouse at the Lighthouse Point Park, the incredible view of the beach as the sun dips into the sea beyond the horizon leaves you spellbound. Don’t make the mistake of forgetting your camera as you climb up the second tallest lighthouse in the U.S.
